We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience in recovery who is passionate about inspiring hope, building meaningful connections, and supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Position Summary The Peer Support Specialist uses their personal recovery experience to provide encouragement, mentorship, advocacy, and practical support to clients receiving behavioral health and substance use treatment. Working alongside therapists, nurses, case managers, and other treatment professionals, the Peer Support Specialist helps clients develop recovery skills, access community resources, and remain engaged in treatment while serving as a positive role model. Build supportive, recovery-focused relationships with clients through shared lived experience. Provide one-on-one peer support and facilitate recovery-focused groups. Encourage client engagement in treatment and recovery activities. Assist clients in developing recovery goals and identifying strengths. Connect clients with community resources, support groups, employment, housing, education, and other recovery supports. Promote healthy coping skills, self-advocacy, and relapse prevention strategies. Document client interactions accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support client progress. Maintain professional boundaries while serving as a recovery role model. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings. Uphold all HIPAA, confidentiality, and organizational policies. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Florida Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe. Personal lived experience with recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges. Minimum of one year of sustained recovery preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish trust and motivate individuals through a strengths-based approach. Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation. Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record preferred. He has been a principal investigator for over forty studies and has been involved in research leading to the approval of most psychiatric medications currently on the market. He is the founder of the Neuroscience Research Institute which continues to conduct research on cutting edge medication and interventional psychiatry. Dr. Alam is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
