SUMMARY
The Medical Biller (Follow Up) is primarily responsible for the over-all accuracy and timely filing of claims. This position will handle a share of the billing workflow and review processes which include, but are not limited to edits, appeals, coding query and updating payer guidelines and OIG regulations.JOB DUTIES
Electronically submits claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and/or commercial insurance companies. Verifies customer eligibility with insurance carriers and if necessary, acquires authorization. Requests coding verifications and changes per documentation, updates and reviews aged receivables for unpaid balances and resolves claim issues. Communicates with customers regarding their billing and assists in collections and processes payments. Receives completed shipped orders and verifies accuracy and completeness of all required information. Performs all other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Positions requires a High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Minimum 1 year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Adaptable to changing priorities and able to effectively manage departmental productivity time. Clear comprehension of written information in work-related documents. Verbal communication skills to relay information effectively. Ability to use reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Skills to apply basic mathematics to solve problems.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the facility. Occasional light physical effort required. Occasional lifting under 10 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This position requires a higher level of knowledge in the billing skill set with the ability to follow up on existing claims, address the aging A/R and complete accurate and timely appeals.
