Description

American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a long-term care facility, requiring 2+ years of LTC experience and charge experience, NJ or Compact license required if applicable.

Details

• Work in a rehab and skilled nursing facility/nursing home setting
• Long-term care unit serving patients recovering from stroke, neurological conditions, ortho procedures, cancer, trauma, amputation, and complex medical conditions
• Patient ratios of 1:25 days, 1:40 nights, and 1:25 weekends
• Point Click Care charting system required
• Scheduled for night shift (5x8 hours), 11p-7:30a
• Weekend availability every weekend preferred, every other weekend considered
• Floating required within skillset based on census, patient acuity, and staffing needs

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact LPN license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of LTC experience required
• Charge experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Point Click Care charting experience required
• Skilled in care coordination including admissions/discharge, status updates to RN/MD, I&O, pain and vital sign monitoring, and blood glucose testing
• Skilled in patient care including ambulation, personal care, pressure ulcer assessment/prevention, wound care (including wound VAC and JP/Hemovac drains), and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience administering medications and IV therapy including antianxiety, antidepressant, antihypertensive, antipsychotic, and mood stabilizer medications, as well as IM/SQ, NG/G-tube, oral, and vaccine administration, central line dressing changes, IV pump management, and IV starts
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen therapy, and oral suctioning
• Experience with neuro/behavioral health conditions including degenerative disorders, CVA, mood disorders, seizure disorders, and stroke scale assessment
• GI/GU/Renal skills including colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, Foley catheter insertion, clean-catch urine collection, pre-/post-HD management, and shunt/fistula care

Additional Information

• Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and services while communicating status changes to RN/MD
• Three-day orientation includes computer system and facility training, sub-acute North Unit orientation, and long-term South Unit orientation
• Any color scrubs permitted
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• RTO, block, and scheduling requests must be submitted prior to offer for consideration
• Facility may call off up to one shift per two weeks
• Holiday coverage requirements to be discussed during interview
• Facility provides short-term rehab and long-term skilled nursing care including physical, occupational, pulmonary, speech, aphasia, and swallowing therapy
