HIM Specialist/Health Information Services Technician/Medical Records

We are seeking an experienced Medical Records Release of Information (ROI) Specialist to support the timely and accurate processing of medical records requests while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state/federal privacy regulations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using the Epic Release of Information (ROI) module and a strong background in Health Information Management (HIM) or Medical Records.

Responsibilities

Process and prioritize medical records requests from patients, providers, attorneys, insurance companies, and other authorized requestors.
Utilize the Epic Release of Information (ROI) module to process and document requests.
Verify authorizations and ensure compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
Respond to customer inquiries regarding medical records and Release of Information requests.
Educate patients and requestors on confidentiality and privacy requirements.
Process documents using eFax, PDF applications, and Kofax.
Maintain accurate documentation and data entry with high attention to detail.
Meet required turnaround times while providing excellent customer service.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 3 years of experience processing medical records or Release of Information (ROI) requests.
At least 1 year of hands-on experience using the Epic Release of Information (ROI) module.
Knowledge of HIPAA and Release of Information regulations.
Data entry accuracy of 95% or higher .
Experience with eFax and PDF applications.
Strong verbal, written, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Kofax .
RHIT or RHIA certification preferred (not required).
Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
