Are you an experienced Power Electronics Engineer who enjoys designing, building and troubleshooting real hardware? Have you developed high-power converters, DC-DC power supplies or complex electrical systems? Would you welcome a $100–$180 per hour contract where your expertise makes an immediate impact? If so, this opportunity may be the right next step for you.
An established aerospace and defence manufacturer is investing in advanced power electronics and seeking an experienced engineer to support challenging hardware development projects.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside a specialist engineering team, solving complex design problems with genuine technical ownership and flexibility.
The Power Electronics Design Engineer will develop high-performance power converters, contributing across circuit design, simulation, prototyping and hardware validation.
As the Power Electronics Design Engineer your responsibilities will include
- Designing and improving high-power converters, DC-DC power supplies and power conversion circuits
- Developing PFC circuits, converter topologies and switching control strategies
- Designing and evaluating transformers, inductors, power magnetics and EMI filters
- Supporting schematic design, PCB development, prototype builds and hardware testing
- Troubleshooting power electronics hardware , resolving design issues and improving performance
As the Power Electronics Design Engineer you will bring
- Practical experience designing power electronics, switching power supplies or power converters
- Strong understanding of DC-DC conversion, PFC and switching converter topologies
- Experience with high-power electrical systems , ideally 10–100kW or 270–800V DC
- Knowledge of SiC/GaN devices, magnetics, circuit simulation or PCB design
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, debugging, testing and hardware development
Experience with LTspice, PLECS, EMI/EMC or aerospace standards would be advantageous.
Aerospace experience is not essential. Engineers from automotive, EV, industrial power, energy and advanced electronics are encouraged to apply.
The Power Electronics Design Engineer will enjoy a competitive $100–$180 hourly rate , flexible contract arrangements and the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems.
Regular on-site collaboration in Port Jefferson is required.
