Job Overview This position serves as a liaison for an extensive variety of laboratory customers. The job includes procuring quality specimens from adult, geriatric, pediatric and infant patients for diagnostic testing according to CLIA, TJC and CAP guidelines and may involve performing EKGs on outpatients. The role also handles telephone calls to and from customers, gathers required data for service and billing, addresses questions, resolves issues, and completes documentation to meet OIG compliance guidelines, including accurate interpretation and transcription of physician orders and LIS/HIS order entry. Specimens may be received, patient demographics entered, test orders logged using LIS/HIS systems, specimens labeled, and distributed to the appropriate lab departments for testing. Job Responsibilities Ensure specimen integrity by obtaining patient identification, accurate data, collection and specimen collection Documents all information as required in expected timeframes Understands the importance of accuracy in all steps of the collection process and completes all work accurately and timely. Takes on complex tasks when asked and takes initiative to take on tasks when need arises.
