College Adviser — Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC) Position Title: College Adviser — Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC) Posting Number: G/R32851P Posting Date: 04/22/2026 Closing Date: open until filled Location: outside Athens, Georgia Employment Type: full‑time (11 months) Start Date: 07/01/2026 – 05/31/2027 Salary: $40,800 Responsibilities Work with high school seniors: Provide information on the college admissions process, financing college, registering for and taking ACT/SAT exams, and completing college applications. (45%) Assist students with finding scholarship resources (20%) Complete GCAC reports and data tracking: Track all student interactions using the College Advising Corps Student GRACE web‑based system and complete GCAC reports and projects (15%) Work with the site liaison at the assigned high school; the official supervisor is the Program Director of the Georgia College Advising Corps (10%) Host college fairs and information sessions: Provide programming regarding college admission and financial aid (5%) Conduct outreach to younger students: At the end of the spring term, begin outreach to rising seniors to build interest and enthusiasm toward college and prepare them for actionable steps such as ACT/SAT (5%) Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Service‑minded individuals with a wide range of academic and professional experiences, approachable, self‑motivated, and deeply committed to expanding college access. Educational and professional expectations: College advisers should work well with a wide variety of student populations and school staff. Key Skills & Competencies Interpersonal Skills: Collaborate effectively with others to achieve goals. Organization Skills: Meet deadlines, plan events, and keep track of data and records. Communication Skills: Speak persuasively and tactfully, write professionally, and create multi‑media texts such as flyers, presentations, and websites. Problem‑Solving Skills: Surmount challenges and solve problems creatively, ethically, and diplomatically while guiding students through the college admission process. Physical Demands Sitting, typing, standing, light lifting. Security & Background Investigation Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation, including a criminal background check, confirmation of credentials and employment history, and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check.
