Physical Therapist Pediatrics

Job Summary:

The Pediatric Inpatient/Outpatient Physical Therapist provides specialized physical therapy services to pediatric patients in an acute hospital setting. The role involves assessing, planning, and delivering rehabilitation treatments to improve patient mobility and function. The therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and participates in patient and family education. This position requires pediatric experience, a valid Alaska PT license, and BLS certification, with a commitment to quality care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform physical therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, strength, and functional independence.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately using Epic charting system.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, exercises, and home care strategies.
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, and clinical best practices.
• Participate in weekend shifts as required, approximately 1-2 weekends per month.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Alaska Physical Therapist license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year pediatric physical therapy experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records, preferably Epic.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in acute hospital or Magnet facility settings.
• Familiarity with trauma patient care (Level II Trauma center experience).
• Ability to educate and communicate effectively with pediatric patients and families.

Special Considerations:

• No on-call requirements.
• Some weekend shifts required, approximately 1-2 per month.
• Travel assignment with a 13 or 26-week duration.
• Time off requests are approved individually and must be included in the submittal.
• Local candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
• Pending licenses accepted but must be active for auto offer.

Scheduling:

• Choice of 4x10 hour day shifts or 5x8 hour day shifts.
• Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
