Administrative Functions Administer patient assessments, oversee the assessment process, set assessment schedules, and assure accurate and timely completion. Coordinate the care plan according to regulatory requirements. Create schedules for all Medicare and Medicaid and stay updated on coverage changes. Determine required documents for Medicaid reimbursement. Cooperate with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to maintain the resident's total care regimen. Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's quality assurance program for the nursing service department. Participate in facility surveys (inspections) conducted by authorized government agencies. Periodically review and update the resident's written discharge plan; assist in planning the nursing services portion of the discharge plan as required. Interpret department policies and procedures for personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting. Maintain confidentiality of user IDs, passwords, and protected health information; report suspected violations to the Administrator. Report known or suspected unauthorized attempts to access the facility's information system. Charting and Documentation Complete and file required record‑keeping forms/charts upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies. Report all discrepancies concerning physician orders, diet changes, charting errors, etc., to the Nurse Supervisor. Perform routine charting duties and sign and date all entries in the resident's medical record. Reporting Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator. Participate in annual facility in‑service training programs such as OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, Safety, and Infection Control. Attend and participate in continuing education programs to maintain licensure and stay abreast of professional changes. Qualifications Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved program. Must hold a current, unencumbered, active RN license in this state. Must maintain CPR certification and current continuing education/licensing. Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred. Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing at all times. Language Skills Read, write, speak, and understand English; read technical procedures and policy manuals. Present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Communicate with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public. Possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for quality care. Demonstrate patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents. Seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into nursing practices. Not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace. Work Environment Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (e.g., drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms). Moves intermittently during working hours, is subject to frequent interruptions, and is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, and others under all conditions and circumstances.
