Part Time Facilities Technician Nexus Family Healing is looking to add a Part Time Facilities Technician to join our team in Portland, Oregon. The program serves up to six youth, ages 10-17, with mental and developmental disabilities who have become involved in the justice system. Pay and Schedule Part time – onsite opportunity Full time onsite opportunity at 722 NE 162nd Ave, Portland OR 97320 Hourly pay range: $25–$27.50 Benefits Paid time off (PTO) in the first year of employment 401(k) match Talkspace Therapy Benefit for the whole family Advancement pathways and internal promotion And much more Position Summary The Facilities Technician assists in maintaining the appearance, structure, and safety of the academy’s buildings, vehicles, and grounds. Responsibilities include performing general facility maintenance tasks and teaching maintenance and renovation skills to residents at sites where vocation training programs are in place. Primary Responsibilities Inspect building structure for safety problems and notify supervisor of inspection results. Mow lawns, cut shrubbery, rake leaves, shovel snow, and perform landscaping duties. Complete work orders and related reports and submit to supervisor. Secure the building and storage areas at the end of each working day, if necessary. Maintain Facility Vehicles Perform basic automotive maintenance on vehicles, including replacing wiper blades, repairing or replacing tires, and ensuring proper fluid levels. Ensure vehicles are inspected for performance and maintenance needs. Maintain a log of when vehicles are due for preventative maintenance checks and ensure routine service schedules are followed; record all maintenance repairs completed on each vehicle. Monitor vehicle storage and coordinate vehicle cleaning. Maintain Furniture and Equipment Move furniture and furnishings and notify supervisor of needed repairs or facility problems. Perform furniture repair and refinishing when appropriate. Maintain on‑site storage areas. Assist in Construction and/or Repair Projects Assist in projects that may involve painting, carpet, or linoleum installation under supervision. Assist in repairing heating system, broken faucets/sinks, heating and water chiller, and AC systems as assigned. Identify problems in emergency power and generator systems and in fire alarm systems through routine inspections, and report findings to supervisor. Troubleshoot equipment to assess problems and recommend a plan of action. Safety, Compliance & Policies Remain current on all fire, safety, and maintenance codes for the facility; adhere to department procedures and policies; remain current on all required training and certifications. Exhibit a spirit of cooperation among coworkers and comply with all home office and agency policies and procedures; display ethical conduct, professionalism and maintain healthy boundaries at all times. Requirements High School diploma or GED required. 2 years of related work experience in building maintenance, construction or an additional trade. Must possess proven skills in at least two of the following areas: plumbing, woodworking, general electrical, vehicle maintenance or landscaping. Must have the ability to meet Life Safety codes. Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements. Must successfully pass a DHS criminal background check. Preferred Education and Experience 3+ years of experience with building maintenance, construction, or an additional trade. Work Environment Must be able to spend time operating and driving a vehicle. Excellent sensory skills are important (sight, hearing and speech) as well as the ability to communicate effectively. The role routinely uses a vehicle, standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted and up to 125+ pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2–4 hours). Must be able to climb ladders, work at tall heights and crawl in tight spaces. Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily maintenance activities as required.
