Medical Interpreter
Berkshire Health Systems
- This position will be flexible hours and able to go to other campuses.
- DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
- To provide accurate, professional medical interpretation for LEP (limited English Proficiency) patients at BMC and affiliated outpatient services.
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- Two years preferred, interpreting for people with limited English proficiency, in offical or unofficial capacity. Can include medical, legal or business translation.
- Education and Training:
- High school diploma required, some college preferred.
- Area Health Education Center Medical Interpreter Training Program course or equivalent.
- License, Certification & Registration:
- CMI or CHI certification preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and ability to be on-call, understand role and boundaries of an interpreter. Strict adherence to confidentiality policy.
