Title: Supervising Deputy Clerk State Role Title: Salary Non-Specified Hiring Range: $53,930 Location: Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Supervisor (Grade 10) is responsible for the direct supervision of employees in a high-volume office that provides extensive support for daily operations. The Supervisor ensures instructions are executed and that legal papers are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures and ensures that all tight deadlines are met. The Supervisor will train and audit work; evaluate performance; interview/select employees; participate on committees and in court improvement projects; delegate and participate in operational responsibilities in a high-volume court with frequent deadlines. Aid staff within the assigned unit by delegating tasks, preparing schedules, updates leave, and all other duties as assigned by management. Must earn a minimum of 12 CLE credits per year. Essential Duties & Responsibilities This position requires candidates to demonstrate critical thinking, effective leadership, sound management principles, training skills, excel in promoting customer service, show initiative and problem-solving skills, as well as being experienced in records management systems/software applications particularly MS Word and Outlook. Duties include preparing dockets and detailed court documents, entering data into an automated case management system, assessing fines and costs, extensive scanning, and filing court documents. A high degree of tact and diplomacy is needed for customer interaction in person and by phone. Minimum Qualifications The most competitive candidates will possess: Minimum Qualifications/Experience A combination of education and experience is required to provide competence in the areas of responsibility. Supervisory experience preferred. Considerable/substantial amount of court experience, business or office-related experiences is required including the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: managerial; strong organizational skills to plan, coordinate and direct a diversified range of, personnel, judicial, public relations, and data processing duties. Supervisory abilities include the recruiting and hiring of new employees, training staff, conducting employee performance evaluations, and establishing and maintain a high level of performance standards. Knowledge of judicial or regulatory requirements that affect court operations and case processing activities is preferred. Strong decision-making capabilities required. A high degree of judgment, understanding, and tact is required to communicate and interact with internal and external contacts.
