This attorney will play a key role in providing sophisticated claims management, insurance coverage analysis, and strategic risk assessment across a broad range of specialty and professional liability lines.In this role, you will independently manage complex claims and coverage matters from inception through resolution, partnering closely with clients, carriers, and outside counsel to develop effective litigation, settlement, and risk mitigation strategies. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-exposure, challenging matters while collaborating with a nationally recognized team of insurance professionals.This is a remote or hybrid position that may be based in any state where Wilson Elser has an office.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage a claims caseload, from claim notification through resolution.Evaluate coverage, liability and damages issues for complex professional liability, employment liability, real estate liability, miscellaneous liability and D&O matters.Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial lettersProactively monitor claims, prepare and develop handling and resolution strategies.Assign, coordinate, and manage outside counsel to obtain optimal resolutions.Prepare reports for clients with exposure analysis and reserve recommendations.Resolve claims through direct negotiations and participation in mediation.Work closely with other attorneys and Partners on legal projects.Ability to regularly interface with clients, carriers and outside counsel.QualificationsJD from an accredited Law SchoolLicensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction5+ years of legal practice experience in the insurance area.Demonstrated experience handling complex insurance claims and evaluating coverage issues across professional and specialty liability lines.Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage denial letters is strongly preferred.Prior experience in private practice, insurance coverage, or claims counseling is preferred.Superior written and oral communication skills required.Strong legal research and negotiation skills required.Ability to assess and interpret insurance policies, identify potential legal risks, and offer strategic solutions to prevent disputes from escalating.Strong organizational skills to effectively manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.Wilson Elser offers a competitive salary and benefits package designed to support our attorneys both professionally and personally.A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
