Title: Occupational Therapist

Essential Functions

• Responsible for providing occupational therapy services to students in the public schools; performs related duties as required.
• Implements students' plans of care.
• Completes Evaluations of students' performance by administering tests such as fine motor, visual perception, perceptual motor, range of motion, and daily living tasks.
• Writes progress notes and parent correspondence regarding students receiving occupational therapy services.
• Participates in conferences with professional staff and parents regarding individual education plans and evaluation team reports.
• Trains students in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology to accomplish tasks.
• Purees food for student lunches and feeds students who are unable to feed themselves.
• Trains students in activities of daily living, classroom skills, and pre-vocational skills.
• Assists in instructing staff in appropriate set-up and position for classroom and lunchroom tasks.
• Prepares school-based materials for use in occupational therapy student intervention sessions.
• Demonstrate the aptitude and competence necessary for assigned responsibilities.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Leadership qualities and personal and professional characteristics required to work effectively with students, teachers, support staff, and parents.
• Other qualifications that the school board may find appropriate.

Additional Duties

• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

• Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

• Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License:

• Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapist

Experience:

• Successful prior experience working as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in an educational or other pediatric practice setting a plus.
