Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum position requiring Cerner charting experience and a flexible floating schedule.
Details
- Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit in a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:3 to 4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals, within scope of practice
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (IN or Compact) required in hand prior to start
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Experience with newborn care, postpartum care, and couplet care skills including IV therapy, medication administration, breastfeeding support, and newborn assessment
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- 2 supervisor references required
- Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care for mother-baby couplets including newborn assessments, postpartum recovery, and parent education
- Support patients with cesarean section, vaginal delivery, multiple births, and postpartum complications
- Care for newborns with conditions such as hypoglycemia, low birth weight, and large for gestational age
- Perform pain management duties including post-epidural care and PCA use
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this unit
- Past PRN or permanent IU Health employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of employment within IU Health must take a break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
