Phlebotomist

Job Details Contract position with potential for permanent. Job code: CVDJP00034530. Location: Columbia, MD (primary base) with floating duty to Baltimore City, Frederick County, and Columbia. Home base will be the location closest to the employee’s home. Schedule: 6 AM to 7 PM Monday‑Friday, with one Saturday shift per month. Shift duration is 8 hours, starting as early as 6 AM and ending as late as 7 PM. Benefits Benefits available. Mileage expenses paid. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Position Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy duties including blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures in a clear, courteous manner. Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles. Fully understand physicians’ orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, freeze specimens, and package them for transport. Store specimens at required temperature and in appropriate containers, ensuring integrity for transport. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Attend annual department trainings and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year of related experience, including pediatric and geriatric patient experience.
