Athletic Trainer Hobart High School

Seeking an Athletic Trainer for Hobart High School. Position available beginning the 2026-2027 school year. To support the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes by providing athletic training services, including injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, emergency care, treatment support, rehabilitation coordination, return-to-play support, health-related education, athletic training recordkeeping, and communication with students, parents, coaches, administrators, physicians, and other health care providers.

Provide athletic training services for student-athletes participating in district athletic programs, including injury prevention, risk reduction, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation support within the scope of professional licensure and district procedures. Assist with athletic health care procedures, emergency action plans, injury management protocols, and return-to-play procedures in coordination with the Athletic Director, High School Administration, coaches, physicians, and other appropriate personnel. Provide immediate care, first aid, and emergency response for athletic injuries and illnesses occurring during assigned practices, contests, conditioning sessions, and other school-related athletic activities. Evaluate student-athlete injuries and illnesses within the scope of professional practice and determine appropriate care, referral, restriction, or follow-up in accordance with applicable procedures, physician direction, and district expectations. Coordinate communication related to student-athlete injuries with parents/guardians, coaches, administrators, school health personnel, physicians, emergency medical services, and other appropriate health care providers. Support rehabilitation, reconditioning, and return-to-participation processes for injured student-athletes, including monitoring progress, documenting status, and communicating limitations or restrictions as appropriate. Maintain accurate records related to injury evaluations, treatments, rehabilitation activities, referrals, physician notes, return-to-play documentation, emergency care, inventory, and other required athletic training documentation. Maintain the athletic training room, equipment, supplies, and related areas in a safe, clean, organized, and professional manner consistent with health, safety, sanitation, and district expectations.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Valid Indiana athletic trainer license. Current certification through the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, or ability to obtain and maintain certification as required for licensure. Current CPR/AED certification. Ability to provide athletic training services within the scope of professional licensure and certification. Knowledge of athletic training principles, injury prevention, emergency care, rehabilitation practices, return-to-play procedures, concussion management, heat illness prevention, sudden cardiac arrest awareness, and student-athlete health and safety needs. Ability to maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, coaches, administrators, physicians, emergency personnel, and school staff, and remain calm and decisive in emergency or time-sensitive situations. Ability to use district technology platforms, athletic training documentation systems, communication tools, and software applications as needed for recordkeeping, scheduling, communication, and reporting.

Salary and benefits as defined by the School City of Hobart and applicable employment agreement, or individual employment terms. Work schedule shall be determined by the needs of the Athletics Department and may include afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, practices, contests, tournaments, summer conditioning, and other athletic events as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, move throughout indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, and respond quickly to student-athlete injuries or emergencies. The employee is frequently required to reach, handle athletic training equipment and supplies, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, push, pull, or assist with injured student-athletes. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may assist with heavier lifting or emergency response situations with appropriate assistance. Work environment involves frequent interaction with student-athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, administrators, school staff, medical providers, emergency personnel, and visitors. The employee may be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, communicable illnesses, cleaning chemicals, athletic equipment, noise, crowds, varying weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, wet or uneven surfaces, and other conditions associated with athletic practices, contests, and emergency care.
