Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily nursing operations, ensuring efficient patient care delivery across multiple departments including critical care, medical-surgical, geriatrics, and behavioral health.
• Lead and mentor nursing staff by providing guidance on clinical practices, policy adherence, and professional development opportunities.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform individualized care plans.
• Oversee medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, tube feeding management, and sterile processing protocols in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations.
• Ensure accurate medical documentation utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; maintain meticulous medical records in accordance with legal standards.
• Coordinate discharge planning, case management activities, and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Facilitate team communication through managerial channels to promote a collaborative environment focused on quality improvement and patient safety.

Requirements

• Valid RN (Registered Nurse) license with current state certification.
• Proven supervisory or nurse management experience in acute care settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers, ICU, or emergency medicine units.
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
• Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner and eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical imaging and laboratory experience is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams effectively while maintaining compliance with nursing policies and long-term care regulations.
• Critical care experience including ventilator management, airway management, cardiac catheterization procedures, and spinal tap techniques.
• Excellent communication skills for managing care facility teams and engaging with patients’ families; proficiency in managerial communication is essential.
• Ability to perform complex clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, suturing, venipuncture, catheterization procedures, sterile technique application, and specimen collection/processing.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety across all settings.
• Flexibility to work in diverse environments including hospital medicine units, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, pediatric units (including neonatal ventilator management), and dementia/memory care units.
