Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room | Seattle, WA | $64/Hour | 13-Week Travel Contract

UHC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for an Emergency Room (ER) assignment in Seattle, Washington. This is an acute-care emergency department serving patients with a wide range of high-acuity medical, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, and behavioral-health conditions.

Additional Float Pay: Travelers receive an additional $20/hour when floated to another Region I facility outside their primary facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe and comprehensive emergency nursing care to acutely ill and injured patients.
• Perform rapid assessments and prioritize patients according to clinical needs.
• Care for patients presenting with stroke, STEMI, sepsis, chest pain, behavioral-health emergencies, and other acute conditions.
• Monitor patients and recognize changes in clinical condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, cardiac drips, insulin drips, sedation, and other critical-care medications as ordered.
• Perform and interpret telemetry monitoring as part of the ED nursing role.
• Draw blood specimens and assist with laboratory collection.
• Provide respiratory treatments as appropriate within RN scope.
• Assist with emergency procedures and stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Provide care to behavioral-health and psychosis patients using appropriate safety and de-escalation techniques.
• Participate in triage when qualified and experienced in ED triage.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, ED technicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in EPIC.

• Beds: 17, with ability to flex to approximately 22 beds
• Average Daily Volume: Approximately 66 patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Psych Rooms: 4 designated rooms
• Security: In-house 24/7, including the ED
• Fast Track: Available through triage/lobby
• CT & X-Ray: Available within the ED department
• Monitor System: Philips
• ED Tech Support: Available
• Respiratory Therapy: Available as needed
• Charge Nurse: Typically does not take an assignment; travelers may be utilized as charge, particularly on nights, if willing

Common Patient Conditions

Candidates should be comfortable caring for patients with:

• Stroke
• STEMI
• Sepsis
• Chest pain
• Behavioral health conditions
• Psychosis
• Acute psychiatric emergencies
• Critical medical conditions
• Rare pediatric emergencies

Pediatric patients represent approximately 1% of the ED population and are generally treated and transferred when necessary.

Requirements

• 1+ year of Emergency Room / ED RN experience – Required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred
• Experience with high-acuity emergency patients preferred
• BLS – Required
• ACLS – Required
• PALS – Required
• NIHSS – Required
• Active Washington RN License – Required or willing to wait
• EPIC experience preferred
• Ability to work night shifts
• Ability to work every other weekend
• Willingness to work holidays
• Valid Driver's License – REQUIRED at time of submission

Floating Requirement

The primary assignment is at Hospital in  Seattle . If operationally needed, travelers may be required to float within Region I , including:

• – Burien, WA
• – Federal Way, WA
• – Seattle, WA

An additional $20/hour is provided when floated to another Region I facility outside the primary facility.

Orientation

• Orientation: One 12-hour shift
• Orientation is completed with an experienced ED RN.

Candidates will undergo a clinical profile review and manager interview before placement.

The facility emphasizes accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and respect across the entire healthcare team . The manager is a former traveler and reportedly manages travelers as an integral part of the team.
