Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/07/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, rotating Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse/Acute Care The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of general nursing care utilizing the nursing process, either directly or through appropriate delegation of duties to supervised staff members. Responsibilities Conducts assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing services provided directly or indirectly. Assesses patient needs and initiates nursing care plans involving patients, families, and relevant parties. Sets realistic patient goals, identifies teaching needs, and addresses discharge concerns. Participates in direct patient care and administers prescribed medications and treatments, including fluid and respiratory therapy. Demonstrates proficiency in performing technical skills and utilizing equipment within assigned areas. Applies and enforces infection control policies and procedures. Effectively organizes time and priorities in patient care delivery. Recognizes and interprets symptoms, reporting patient conditions and taking appropriate actions in stressful, unusual, or emergency situations. Initiates patient education by evaluating knowledge about diseases and establishing realistic learning objectives for patients and families. Assists in the orientation and ongoing training of new staff members and maintains professional and clinical competence through continued education. Provides safe and effective nursing care as ordered by the provider, complying with recognized nursing techniques and standards. Accurately observes, reports, and records patient condition observations. Teaches patients and families the correct administration of medications and treatments, emphasizing the importance of adherence to prescribed regimens. Coordinates shift activities of the assigned staff to ensure continuity of nursing services while balancing quality improvement with cost-effectiveness. Provides leadership and support to staff to facilitate their work performance. Maintains good interpersonal relationships and confidentiality, preserving the integrity of the nursing staff. Adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment. Performs other responsibilities as assigned, based on facility needs. Education/Experience/Licensure Current registration as a licensed nurse in the state of South Dakota. Current CPR certification. Able to obtain ACLS and PALS certification within six months of hire. TNCC certification for solo Emergency Room coverage within six months of hire. Shift Information 12-hour shifts with a varied schedule including days, evenings, and nights.
