Job purpose

The Lead Technician position at IDV USA is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise while leading and supporting a team of technicians in the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and optimization of vehicle components and related systems. This role serves as the primary technical resource on the shop floor, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. 

Duties and responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
  • Diagnosing technical issues with equipment or systems.
  • Developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Collaborating with team members to resolve issues efficiently.
• Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
  • Performing repairs and replacements of faulty components.
  • Implementing preventive measures to minimize downtime.
  • Lead diagnosis of complex mechanical and electrical issues. 
• Quality Assurance and Testing:
  • Conducting thorough testing procedures to ensure component functionality.
  • Analyzing test results and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implementing quality control measures to maintain high standards.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Generating reports on equipment performance and issues encountered.
  • Providing recommendations for process improvement based on data analysis.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing:
  • Training new technicians on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Sharing expertise and best practices with team members.
• Safety Compliance:
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations in all work activities.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures.
  • Promoting a culture of safety awareness among team members.
• Lead and Support Team of Technicians
  • Train and onboard new technicians. 
  • Assist with assigning daily work priorities and monitoring workflow.
  • Support scheduling, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in the specific tools, equipment, and technology relevant to the specialized field is essential. This could include knowledge of software programs, machinery operation, or specialized techniques.
• Experience: Background in mechanical/electrical repairs required.
• Problem-solving abilities: The ability to troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently is often crucial for this role. This might involve diagnosing technical problems, interpreting data, and implementing solutions.
• Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy are critical in this role, where small errors can have significant consequences. Attention to detail is necessary for performing tasks correctly and ensuring quality outcomes.

Working conditions

Working conditions feature noisy environments with various tools and equipment, requiring adherence to safety protocols. Physical demands such as lifting heavy objects and performing repetitive tasks are common, necessitating attention to ergonomics and personal well-being. Specific physical requirements include: regularly lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs., with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance; frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching; use of hands and fingers to handle or feel tools and components; and occasional work in confined spaces or at heights.
