Lab Assistant

Join a busy laboratory team as a Lab Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in supporting daily laboratory operations. Responsibilities

• Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory department
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Centrifuge specimens, print extra labels, and record temperature data
• Store and retrieve specimens as needed
• Prepare reagents and media for testing
• Assist in specimen preparation at workstations, including building worklists, aliquoting, checking for clots or fibrin, inoculating, and slide preparation
• Perform QA/QC duties and resolve pending test lists
• Identify and locate missing samples
• Decontaminate work areas and conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests
• Maintain departmental records and files
• Change gas cylinders and dispose of biohazardous materials safely
• Follow PPE and safety regulations at all times
• Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs
• Complete relevant training and competency checklists

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to establish work priorities and multitask efficiently
• Strong retention of information once learned
• Excellent interpersonal skills with courtesy and respect for coworkers and clients
• Understanding of medical terminology (preferred but not required)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive task environment
• Own reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
• Punctuality and availability for scheduled shifts
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written; bilingual candidates who speak Spanish are strongly preferred

Additional Skills & Requirements

• No prior work experience required
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy, production-oriented setting
• Willingness to wear personal protective equipment including lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, and other protective wear as necessary
• Schedule flexibility to work any assigned shift
• Candidates with medical assistant training are encouraged to apply
