Radiologic TechnologistTo perform routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT and diagnostic radiology, adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.Qualifications:Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Education: Certificate of Completion: Radiologic TechnologyAssociate's Degree: Radiologic TechnologyWork Experience: Related fieldResponsibilities:Performs procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages.Exhibits competency in performing and filming CT and radiographic proceduresDeviates from routines when the patient's condition requires it or at the request of the radiologistKnowledgeable of procedures and assist radiologist, orders labs and pathology tests, and schedules procedures appropriatelyKnowledgeable of invasive procedures, sterile tray set up, assisting radiologist, catheter and guidewires, orders labs and pathology test, and schedules procedures appropriatelyObtains and documents accurate pre and post procedure information as applicableFollows JCAHO patient safety goalsMaintains quality care throughout the procedurePossesses knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.Performs patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures/policies.Quality Improvement:Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all aspects of CT and Diagnostic Radiology.Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.Technically knowledgeable of CT and diagnostic equipment operationPerforms reasonable trouble shootingChecks and observes equipment for general safety, maintenance, and appropriate operationReports equipment problems through appropriate channelsMaintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that roomPromptly processes images and paper work according to proper procedures to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's officeMaintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as requiredPromptly and accurately completes all fields in the PACS, Radiology system, i.e. number of images repeated, contrast reaction, exam data entry, start and stop times of examMaintains and ensures a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programsDepartmental Support:Assumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students and uses time, supplies and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost effective care for our patients.Shares knowledge, guides and encourages fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and proceduresDisplays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environmentCompletes care while conserving resources, preventing waste of suppliesUses slow time to improve area appearance and accept additional assignments such as cassette cleaning, apron testing and film file dutiesAbout Us:Discover the job, the career, the purpose you were meant for. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
