Retail Merchandising Representative

A leading food and beverage organization is seeking a Retail Merchandising Representative to own in-store execution across an assigned Southern California grocery territory. This person will visit approximately four to five stores each day, partner with dairy managers, maintain product availability and shelf standards, build displays, support ordering, and identify opportunities to grow sales.

The best fit is an energetic, outgoing, and dependable field professional who enjoys a fast-moving environment, works independently, communicates confidently with store leadership, and is comfortable with a physically active route-based position.

Location: Southern California; assigned multi-store territory with daily local travel

Schedule: Full-time, five field days per week; approximately four to five grocery-store visits daily

Work Setting: Onsite / in the field

Role Type: Contract

Contract Duration: Six months with potential to extend or convert to permanent based on performance and business need

Pay Rate: $33.87 per hour

Travel Reimbursement: Business mileage reimbursed at the current IRS standard rate; approved parking expenses reimbursed

Equipment: Company-provided phone, laptop, and iPad for route communication, questionnaires, and reporting

Responsibilities

• Complete merchandising and brand activation assignments across the designated 30-store territory.
• Follow an organized route plan and complete store visits within established timelines.
• Maintain proper product placement, shelf presentation, displays, signage, and promotional materials.
• Check product availability, inventory conditions, pricing, and out-of-stock issues.
• Correct merchandising problems when authorized and escalate unresolved store-level issues.
• Take accurate before-and-after photographs and submit timely visit documentation.
• Communicate professionally with store managers, department leaders, and receiving personnel.
• Track completed visits, promotional execution, display conditions, and follow-up needs.
• Protect brand standards and maintain a consistent customer experience across all assigned locations.
• Manage travel time, store access, and competing priorities independently.

Qualifications

• Previous retail merchandising, grocery, CPG, field marketing, brand activation, route sales, or store-service experience.
• Ability to travel consistently throughout the Greater Los Angeles territory.
• Ability to manage a multi-stop schedule and work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to product placement, displays, pricing, signage, and brand standards.
• Comfortable interacting with retail managers and store employees.
• Able to use a smartphone or mobile system for photographs, reporting, and assignment updates.
• Dependable attendance, strong organization, and reliable follow-through.
• Ability to perform the physical activities normally associated with retail merchandising, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and handling product or display materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience servicing Walmart, Northgate Market, Numero Uno Market, Superior Grocers, Top Valu Market, or similar grocery and mass-retail accounts.
• Familiarity with independent grocery, multicultural retail, or Southern California food and beverage merchandising.
• Experience managing a geographically distributed retail route.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous grocery, dairy, refrigerated, beverage, snack, direct-store-delivery, CPG, or retail merchandising experience; experience with displays, dated-product rotation, planograms, orders, or store-level placement; associate or bachelor's degree in business or a related field, preferred but not required; bilingual English/Spanish; and interest in growing into field sales, customer development, or category management.

Location: Greater Los Angeles territory covering 30 assigned stores in Los Angeles, Long Beach, South Gate, Bell Gardens, City of Industry, Lakewood, Santa Fe Springs, Huntington Park, Maywood, and Compton

Work Setting: Field-based and onsite at assigned retail stores

Travel: Regular local travel between assigned locations is required
