Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse, providing expert patient care with a focus on cardiac catheterization procedures. This role requires independent nursing practice within the scope of state nursing regulations and hospital policies.

The Cardiac Cath Lab RN delivers direct patient care using comprehensive nursing knowledge and skills. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, and family education, all aimed at ensuring optimal patient safety and quality outcomes.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Administer medications, including conscious sedation and emergent drugs, following procedural guidelines.
• Perform thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities accurately to support compliance with quality measures.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and process changes to enhance patient outcomes.
• Communicate professionally with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families to foster a supportive care environment.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while promoting teamwork and accountability.
• Adapt positively to changes within the healthcare environment and pursue ongoing professional development.
• Understand and analyze hemodynamic waveforms and data during catheterization procedures.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience:

At least one year of critical care or equivalent nursing experience is necessary. Experience in interventional cardiac catheterization is advantageous.

Certification/License:

Current RN license valid in the state or through compact licensure. BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association are mandatory.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

This position demands considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including frequent heavy lifting, standing for extended periods while wearing lead aprons, and the ability to perform CPR and apply pressure during procedures.

Working Conditions:

The role involves wearing full lead protective attire for radiation safety, exposure to communicable diseases, and handling biohazardous materials. The ability to work effectively under stress is essential.
