Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of neuro ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift position, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), with the option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• 13-week contract in a Neuro ICU setting within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,266 staffed beds)
• Patient population includes ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries), and ICP monitoring cases
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• Specialized procedures include vasoactive medication management, central line/arterial line management, ICP monitoring (EVDs/bolts), CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
• Specialized equipment includes external ventricular drains (EVDs) and bolts
• Charting is done in Epic (experience preferred)
• Every other weekend is required
• No on-call required
• Travelers float within the Neuro service line to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a neuro setting required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Preferred certifications/education: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education (NIHSS can satisfy 3 hours; ACLS renewal may satisfy additional hours)
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to starting; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills are required
• Required clinical skills include: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, titrating cardiac drips, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD management, ICP monitoring, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Candidates will complete 10 hours of stroke education during orientation
• Pre-start modules are required and must be completed through WorkRamp prior to the start date
• Facial hair must allow for proper N95 fit testing; no exceptions
• Scrub color is Navy Blue
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment; all RTO must be established prior to acceptance of the position
• Travelers may remain at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
• Current or former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before working at any BJC facility as a traveler
• Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis; parking costs and garage locations vary by shift type
