Our team plays a vital role in making a meaningful difference every day.Position SummaryListening Ear is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing and employee benefits administration. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, maintains HRIS data integrity (Paycom), and serves as a trusted resource for employees on payroll, benefits, and timekeeping matters.The ideal candidate thrives in a deadline-driven environment, values accuracy, and takes pride in supporting employees behind the scenes.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll AdministrationOwn and process bi-weekly payroll from start to finish, including timecard review, adjustments, and final submissionMaintain payroll records in compliance with regulationsProcess employee status changes (hires, terminations, pay updates)Manage garnishments, tax levies, and court-ordered deductionsResearch and resolve payroll discrepanciesHRIS & Timekeeping (Paycom)Serve as primary system contact and liaison with Paycom supportSupport and train staff on timekeeping and payroll processesMonitor time entry compliance and correct errorsGenerate and distribute payroll and overtime reportsBenefits AdministrationAdminister health insurance and retirement plansManage employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminationsReconcile benefit deductions with payroll and vendor invoicesServe as primary contact for benefits providersCoordinate and support open enrollment processesEmployee Support & ComplianceRespond to employee and manager questions regarding payroll and benefitsMaintain strict confidentiality of employee informationSupport audits, reporting, and compliance effortsAssist with HR policies and process improvementsQualificationsRequiredAssociate’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, or related field OR equivalent experience1–3 years of payroll or benefits experienceStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong Excel skills (reporting, formulas, data validation)Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalismMust pass a background checkPreferredBachelor’s degree in a related fieldExperience with Paycom or similar HRIS/payroll systemsProfessional certification (FPC, CPP, SHRM-CP, or PHR), or willingness to obtainSchedule & Work EnvironmentMonday–Friday, standard business hoursPrimarily onsite in Mount Pleasant, MIOccasional extended hours during payroll or open enrollment cyclesWhy Join Listening Ear?Make a meaningful impact in your communityJoin a collaborative, mission-driven teamOpportunity to contribute to improving internal processes and systemsStable, essential role supporting a critical nonprofit organizationPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting, computer use, and phone workAbility to perform standard office functionsEqual Opportunity EmployerListening Ear is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
