Description:

Looking for a strong orthopedic checklist. This unit participates in a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner together to care for a group of patients. The goal of this model is to divide the work without dividing the patients, ultimately improving both workload and patient care. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing depending on the needs of the unit. Experience working with telemetry and drips is required. The unit specializes in medical surgical orthopedic patients. Common cases involve traumatic hip fractures, elective spine surgeries, and other traumatic orthopedic injuries. Most patients require pre- and post-surgical orthopedic care, including heart monitors, drains, patient-controlled analgesia, and ketamine drips. Nurses will also provide care for any med-surg patient overflow. Candidates must be comfortable floating based on job description with no restrictions or special requests. Requested time off must be submitted with the initial application. RTO approval will be at management's discretion. Floating may occur within the hospital or to nearby facilities based on the patient's needs. The unit works closely with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Candidates must be either NIH stroke certified upon contract start or willing to complete the NIH stroke healthstream upon onboarding. Candidates should be skilled in blood product administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, and telemetry monitoring. A Sara Steady will assist with patient mobilization. This position requires sufficient experience and a commitment to quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility with scheduling is essential, including working every other weekend and holiday.
