Heavy Equipment Operator

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $19.33 - Midpoint: $24.18 (Hourly N5)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm

Job Summary: The Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment required for work projects including front-end loaders, backhoes and bulldozers. Performs equipment inspections and preventative/routine maintenance. Performs minor equipment repairs and adjustments. Makes estimates from prints, sketches, or site inspections. Drives from site-to-site. Supervises and trains entry level personnel.

Additional Department Summary: May drive a dump truck and/or other heavy duty vehicles. Must be able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice. Will often require long days, on your feet, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. May need to assist with loading machines/trucks. Over 8-hour days may be required based on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules. Works at a series of assigned locations, including football games.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of heavy equipment operation and minor repair and maintenance experience to include backhoe operation.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
