Job Summary

Ascension Providence Hospital is seeking experienced Stepdown Registered Nurses (RNs) to join its 30-bed Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit. This travel assignment is ideal for nurses with strong cardiac and vascular experience who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment caring for post-operative and medically complex patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to stepdown and cardiovascular patients.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP therapy.
• Care for post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients, including POD#1 CABG, AVR, and MVR.
• Manage stable IV drips (GTTs) and closely monitor patient responses.
• Assess, monitor, and treat patients with cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and medical conditions.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Float within the Critical Care Service Line as needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of one year of recent Stepdown or Progressive Care experience.
• Strong cardiovascular and vascular nursing experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Required Clinical Experience

Candidates should have experience caring for patients with:

• High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• BiPAP
• Stable IV Drip (GTT) Management
• CABG, AVR, and MVR (Post-Op Day 1)
• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Repair
• Lobectomy
• Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA)
• NSTEMI & STEMI
• Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
• Permanent & Temporary Pacemakers
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleeding (GIB)
• Post-DKA Patients
• Respiratory Failure
• Tracheostomy Care
