Work alongside city leadership and department heads, providing financial and analytical expertise that directly impacts decision-making and resource allocation. Responsibilities Lead the preparation and administration of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Analyze departmental submissions for accuracy, justification, and compliance, providing recommendations to improve resource allocation. Monitor revenues and expenditures across departments, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions to maintain fiscal integrity. Conduct financial, organizational, and policy analyses, present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and City Council. Support long-range financial planning, forecasting, and the development of fiscal policies that guide sustainable city operations. Ensure compliance with state statutes, local ordinances, and Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) standards. Provide consultative guidance to departments on budget procedures, performance measurement, and financial reporting. Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials to support transparency and informed decision-making. Contribute to benchmarking and process improvement initiatives by researching best practices among comparable municipalities. Background That Fits Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. 2 years of experience in budgeting, management analysis, or public administration. Knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, and governmental financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with a large ERP system. Analytical thinker with the ability to assess financial issues, identify solutions, and clearly communicate recommendations. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborative professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
