Responsibilities Works under general supervision of Facility Administrator to install, repair, and replace locks and locking devices at Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility. Installs, repairs, and replaces cylinder and key locks, door closers, and related locking hardware/devices. Lubricates and adjusts locks and locking devices (e.g., changes combinations on safes, replaces tumblers and/or pad‑locks, repairs electronic locking devices, installs deadbolts, makes master locks and keys). Creates new keys using various machinery (e.g., key duplicator, key cutter, grinder) for doors, cupboards, filing cabinets, medication cabinets, and safes. Performs preventative maintenance on locks and doors (e.g., inspects locks for wear and malfunction, changes locking devices for security purposes). Operates a personal computer to prepare and maintain work‑related records, documentation, and reports (e.g., keeps records of all door locks, maintains identification of keys, maintains inventory of parts and equipment, prepares requisitions). Creates identification tags (chits) for employees, key rings, vehicles, and other devices as needed. Performs semi‑skilled and skilled maintenance repairs, including carpentry repairs (e.g., doors, locks, cabinets, chairs, desks, floors, walls, windows, stairways). Repairs equipment such as light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, motors, appliances, electrical circuits, and components of heating and cooling systems. Repairs plumbing equipment (e.g., water and steam lines, sewer pipes, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures, pumps, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks). Performs custodial duties (e.g., mops, sweeps, waxes floors, washes walls and windows). Performs grounds‑keeping duties and removes snow and ice from sidewalks. Inspects buildings and equipment for repairs or replacements and performs systematic and routine preventative maintenance of the assigned area; operates machine tools and welding equipment to repair metal parts and equipment. Qualifications 12 months of on‑the‑job training or 12 months of experience in locksmithing. 3 months of on‑the‑job training or 3 months of experience in inventory control (or equivalent). Or other equivalent Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
