The Role at a Glance

As the Sr. Manager, Statutory Investment Accounting - Derivatives, you will lead a team responsible for the accounting, reporting, and control activities supporting Lincoln's derivative investment portfolio and related transactions. In this role, you will provide strategic and technical leadership over statutory accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and a strong control environment. You will partner closely with Treasury, Middle Office, Reinsurance, Accounting Policy, and Financial Reporting teams to address complex accounting matters, support business initiatives, and drive operational excellence. Leveraging your expertise in statutory accounting and leadership capabilities, you will develop talent, lead process improvements, and help shape the future direction of Lincoln's investment accounting function.

What you'll be doing

• Establishes and implements priorities, manages performance, shares expertise, and develops talent through hiring, training, feedback, and stretch opportunities to ensure strong results.
• Manages a team of early to mid-career professionals with accountability for operational performance and results.
• Leads the execution of monthly statutory close activities for derivative investments, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
• Manages the preparation and review of statutory reporting schedules, disclosures, and related analyses in accordance with NAIC and regulatory requirements.
• Oversees statutory hedge accounting activities, including review of documentation, reporting requirements, and accounting treatment for designated hedging relationships.
• Supervises a team of accounting professionals by assigning work, monitoring performance, providing technical guidance, and supporting employee development.
• Reviews complex accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting outputs, ensuring issues are appropriately investigated, resolved, and documented.
• Serves as a resource for internal and external stakeholders by providing guidance on statutory accounting requirements, reporting obligations, and accounting impacts of derivative transactions.
• Leads ongoing process improvements and project activities within the function, recommending enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and reporting quality.
• Oversees the execution of statutory and SOX controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
• Partners with Treasury, Middle Office, Reinsurance, Accounting Policy, and Financial Reporting teams to resolve complex issues and support departmental objectives.
• Supports system implementations, testing efforts, and process changes by coordinating team activities, validating outputs, and ensuring business requirements and controls are effectively addressed.

• 4+ Years experience derivative accounting, finance, or other activities with specific responsibilities for this position.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to be innovative and an aptitude to drive and accept change
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical skills and close attention to detail is necessary
• Ability to adapt quickly in a changing work environment

The pay range for this position is $106,875 - $171,000 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
