Environmental Health & Safety Intern

Environmental Health & Safety Intern Arthrex is a global medical device company and a leader in orthopedics medical education. With a mission to help surgeons treat their patients better, Arthrex develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) department in Pendleton, South Carolina, is seeking an intern to provide support in daily tasks while gaining functional experience in a medical device manufacturing environment. The intern will assist with complex equipment machine safety validations, evaluate adequacy of safety controls, help develop and review basic safety training classes, participate in regulatory inspections, and perform basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis. Strong data‑analysis experience and pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health or an Engineering‑related field are preferred. This internship will run from September 2026 to December 2026. Applicants must be able to work 20‑30 hours per week at our Pendleton, SC facility. Responsibilities Support the EH&S team in daily tasks and the rollout of our new LOTO software. Conduct complex equipment machine‑safety validations using checklists. Evaluate adequacy of safety controls (PPE, administrative, and engineering) against OSHA and internal standards. Assist with developing, reviewing, and scheduling basic safety training classes. Perform basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis. Education and Experience Progress toward a college degree in a related field required, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health or Engineering. Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify. Knowledge, Skills and Training Basic to intermediate computer skills. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Computer and Equipment Proficiency PC proficiency; familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, fax, and scanner. Benefits Medical insurance (if 25 or more hours per week).
