Core Faculty, Physical Therapy - Dallas, TX Excelon Associates is conducting a search on behalf of a confidential health sciences institution for a full-time faculty member. The faculty member will provide engaging, clinically focused learning opportunities for students pursuing careers in the health sciences. Instruction may be delivered through face-to-face, blended, hybrid, and online formats. This individual will also provide academic advising, oversee final program projects, contribute to curriculum development, participate in institutional committees, advocate for the profession, and engage in scholarly activities that advance both the academic discipline and the institution. Reports to: Academic Program Director or Assistant Academic Program Director Positions Supervised: Contributing faculty members and laboratory assistants when assigned to courses Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Provides student-centered learning experiences using evidence-based teaching practices. Creates classroom, laboratory, and online learning environments that are engaging, challenging, inclusive, and conducive to student success. Develops creative and clinically relevant learning opportunities aligned with course and program outcomes. Uses student assessment data and learning outcomes to improve instruction and curriculum. Participates in quality improvement initiatives designed to meet programmatic and institutional goals. Prepares and maintains current, accurate, organized, and error-free instructional materials. Manages all components of the learning environment, including online course portals and learning management systems. Facilitates effective instruction across small, large, blended, hybrid, and online classroom settings. Monitors student participation while managing instructional time and student engagement effectively. Scholarship and Professional Development Actively participates in scholarly activities that advance knowledge within the discipline. Establishes and implements an approved scholarship plan and faculty development plan in accordance with accreditation and institutional standards. Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice, research, and evidence relevant to the faculty member's area of expertise. Engages in professional development activities that support continued growth as an educator and practitioner. Disseminates scholarly work in accordance with institutional policies and accreditation expectations. Contributes to the discipline through research, scholarship, professional practice, consultation, or creative activity. Institutional and Professional Service Serves on programmatic and institutional committees as assigned. Participates actively in relevant professional associations. Represents the institution through community, clinical, and professional activities. Participates in institutional governance, curriculum planning, and activities that support institutional development and growth. Uses approved release time to enhance the academic program through activities such as clinical practice, consultation, advanced education, research, or professional service. Promotes the profession and supports shared governance across the institution. Participates in interprofessional education and collaboration initiatives. Academic Administration Serves as a course coordinator or lead instructor when assigned. Collaborates with faculty members, administrators, staff, and other members of the academic team. Advises students regarding academic, professional, and personal matters and provides appropriate referrals when needed. Oversees final program projects and other assigned student learning activities. Performs administrative responsibilities as assigned. Completes an annual faculty performance self-evaluation. Establishes annual performance and professional development goals in collaboration with the Academic Program Director. Participates actively in faculty development opportunities designed to support performance goals. Professionalism Demonstrates the conduct expected of a professional academic and follows the applicable discipline-specific code of ethics. Models and promotes professional behavior inside and outside the classroom. Supports and exemplifies the institution's mission, values, and academic standards. Upholds and enforces student handbook, faculty handbook, and institutional policies and procedures. Communicates professionally and effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, clinical partners, and community stakeholders. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Academic Program Director. Required Education and Experience Terminal academic degree in an appropriate discipline is required. A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college or university level at the Instructor rank or above is required. A minimum of two years of clinical experience related to the assigned course content is required. Experience with distance learning, online instruction, or hybrid education is preferred. Experience conducting or contributing to scholarly activity is preferred. Licensure and Credentials Possess the academic and professional credentials appropriate for the discipline being taught. Hold an earned degree from an accredited institution or an institution recognized by the applicable country's ministry of education. Hold an active professional license or be eligible for licensure when required by the academic program, discipline, accreditation standards, or applicable regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of pedagogy, adult learning principles, instructional design, and learning effectiveness. Uses assessment data to refine instruction and improve student outcomes. Communication Communicates clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats. Adapts communication style and delivery based on the audience, setting, and message. Demonstrates attentive listening skills. Provides timely, constructive, and actionable feedback to students. Collaboration Works cooperatively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, community partners, and external stakeholders. Represents individual perspectives while remaining inclusive, respectful, and fair to others. Contributes positively to team-based academic and institutional initiatives. Student Engagement Creates an environment in which students feel welcomed, understood, supported, and valued. Develops learning experiences that are compelling, challenging, relevant, and productive. Encourages active student participation and professional development. Travel Travel may be required for up to 20 percent of the position's responsibilities. Work Environment Work is performed primarily within a standard academic, office, classroom, laboratory, or online instructional environment. The position may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. The role requires regular use of a personal computer and related technology for approximately six to eight hours per day. Physical responsibilities may include walking, standing, sitting, speaking, presenting, and performing other functions commonly associated with an academic and office setting.
