Senior DERMS Technical Lead Location: San Diego County – hybrid work schedule set by SDCP Posted 7/10/2026 About the role The Senior DERMS Technical Lead oversees the implementation of San Diego Community Power’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) across the Flex Load Portfolio, including Smart Home Flex, Solar Battery Savings, and EV Flex Connect. The role manages day‑to‑day operations of the DERMS platform, schedules devices, develops reports and dashboards, onboards equipment manufacturers and new products, and supports new program initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead day‑to‑day DERMS operations, including configuration, scheduling, user access management, testing, and data integration with internal and external systems. Troubleshoot and provide technical support related to system and/or device performance. Support onboarding of manufacturers, devices, and programs into the DERMS platform; configure telemetry and control logic for dispatch modes and program requirements; provide technical support during testing and launch. Develop dashboards to monitor operational alerts or system anomalies, execute portfolio management and forecasting reports, and evaluate device and portfolio performance. Support evaluation of device and portfolio level event performance, customer impacts, and dispatch strategies. Support DERMS integrations and development with new pilots. Identify system improvement opportunities and propose technical enhancements, including new dispatch strategies and use cases such as load shifting, voltage management, or local capacity. Document and share standard operating procedures and best practices with internal stakeholders to support continuous improvement. Serve as the technical point of contact for all DERMS activities. Ability to represent the organization in professional engagement settings. Proficiency in Spanish and English (preferred). Qualifications, Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed. A typical path: Four‑year degree or higher AND 3‑5 years of professional experience. Four additional years of experience may substitute for a degree. A graduate degree may substitute for one year of experience. 2–3 years of experience supporting implementation of programs in energy efficiency, transportation electrification, demand response, or demand management (preferred). Work Environment & Conditions Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer. Occasional local travel and reliable transportation required. The position may require lifting up to 25 pounds. Benefits Standard benefits package, including Health, vision, and dental insurance for full‑time employees; $100,000 life & AD&D policy, STD and LTD coverage fully paid by SDCP. 457(b) retirement plan with 10% contribution on eligible compensation. Paid time off: 11 holidays, paid winter holiday, 160 hours accrued PTO per year (increases with tenure) and 96 hours accrued sick leave per year. Compensation Salary range: $98,100 – $132,500 (exact amount based on experience).
