Healing Care Hospice Inc is seeking a Hospice Volunteer to provide compassionate support to patients and families in their journey through hospice care.

The Hospice Volunteer will offer presence, comfort, and encouragement to patients and families while helping enhance the overall hospice experience. This role is part-time and hybrid, supporting care needs in designated locations within the community.

Volunteers are an essential part of the hospice team, contributing empathy, reliability, and respect for each individual’s preferences, dignity, and emotional needs.

• Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, offering reassurance and a calm, supportive presence

• Assist with patient and family needs as directed by hospice staff, following care plans and established guidelines

• Support non-clinical activities such as reading, conversation, light companionship tasks, and comforting presence

• Participate in hospice orientations, training, and team meetings to ensure consistent, person-centered support

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with patients, families, and care team members

• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a respectful approach to working with individuals facing serious illness

• Ability to follow direction, adhere to hospice policies, and support a safe, organized environment

• Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with patients and families in a supportive manner

• Reliable availability on a part-time basis, with flexibility to meet community and team needs

• Willingness to complete required hospice onboarding, training, and ongoing support as scheduled

• Experience volunteering in healthcare, caregiving, or community service environments

• Prior experience supporting individuals and families through emotional or end-of-life transitions

• Familiarity with basic principles of confidentiality and respectful bedside interactions

• Comfort working in a hybrid environment, including occasional in-person support at assigned locations

• Experience working as part of an interprofessional team, with a service-oriented mindset
