Key Responsibilities:

• Perform design and engineering of overhead and underground distribution systems, typically 4 kV to 34 kV.

• Support system studies, including load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, and protection coordination analyses.

• Assist with execution of projects for Commonwealth Edison and other Exelon operating companies.

• Interpret and apply client-specific standards, specifications, design criteria, and engineering practices.

• Support distribution planning, capacity analysis, reliability improvements, and infrastructure upgrade efforts.

• Coordinate with utility clients, municipalities, field teams, and internal project teams.

• Prepare, check, and review engineering deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal engineering standards, templates, and best practices.

• Complies with established company work rules, policies, and procedures.

• Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase profitability.

• Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles, or responsibilities, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in overhead and/or underground distribution system design.

• Working knowledge of utility standards, engineering practices, and design documentation requirements.

• Experience with power system analysis tools such as CYME, Synergi, ETAP, or similar platforms.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Commonwealth Edison or similar investor-owned utilities.

• Familiarity with Exelon operating companies such as PECO, BGE, and Pepco.

• Knowledge of the Illinois utility regulatory environment.

• Experience with Distributed Energy Resource (DER) interconnections, including solar, storage, and EV infrastructure.

• Exposure to grid modernization initiatives, including automation, smart grid, and reliability programs.

• Experience with urban underground or network distribution systems.

• Familiarity with utility GIS and work management systems.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (required).

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Illinois preferred)

• 5+ years of experience in electric utility, power delivery, or utility consulting environments.
