The Veterans Home RN is an essential member of the South Dakota Veterans Home, providing professional nursing services in a long‑term care setting. The role requires the application of basic nursing principles, practices, and techniques that align with established healthcare procedures and standards. Successful candidates will work in a patient‑care environment focused on the well‑being of individual veterans. Pay and classification are determined by a combination of education and experience. Licenses and Certifications Must be licensed and able to work as a registered nurse in South Dakota. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Registered Nurse license with an associate degree, bachelor degree, or 3‑year diploma. New graduates are welcome. On‑the‑job training is available. All required certificates and/or tests for performance at this level must be obtained and/or completed. Knowledge of Professional nursing theory and practices Recent developments in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment Clinical procedures Ability to Keep records Follow instructions Operate a variety of medical equipment Make reports on observations Apply general nursing techniques and practices Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients Communicate effectively Deal effectively with patients and staff Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation.
