HVAC Journeyman - 3rd Shift-1- JLL

What this job involves:

As an HVAC Journeyman - 3rd Shift-1, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing HVAC systems across large-scale facilities. This position requires advanced technical expertise to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues independently. You will ensure the continuous operation of critical building systems, directly contributing to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional facility management services. What your day-to-day will look like:

• Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls and equipment using proper testing equipment while working from technical drawings and manuals
• Charge and start-up large chiller systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
• Diagnose and repair HVAC electrical components on chillers, rooftop units, fan units, and related equipment
• Rebuild and repair pumps and compressors to maintain system functionality
• Install new and used HVAC equipment using appropriate construction tools
• Recover refrigerant systems, charge systems, and diagnose refrigeration system problems
• Diagnose and resolve building automation system (BAS) issues to ensure seamless facility operations

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience
• CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon) certification
• Proven expertise in pneumatic controls, instruments, and automatic dampers
• Strong understanding of air flows, air balancing, and the principles of operation for large compressors
• Working knowledge of water and steam systems, as well as air compressor functions and repairs
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and technical instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and DDC (Direct Digital Controls)
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations applicable to HVAC/refrigeration trades
• Background in diagnosing and repairing rooftop AC units in commercial settings
• Experience working in large institutional facilities or commercial properties
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently

Location: Onsite Chicago,IL

Salary: $99,000

Tools Required: Candidates must own a complete set of hand tools necessary for the HVAC/refrigeration trade.

Estimated compensation for this position:

99,000.00 - 99,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
