Fireside Food Service Helper Full Time

Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving food. Assist in cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils. Assist in the set up, and service; and collection of garbage/trash; as appropriate to the area of operation. Serve food to customers.

Perform preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruit and vegetables. Weighing and measuring ingredients. Wrapping, date-labeling, and storing food items. Cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station. Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control. Serving customers in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner. Providing customers with information regarding food ingredients, availability, and pricing. Escalating customer concerns and complaints to management.

Prepares individual servings according to recipes and portion control standards. Seasons and prepares a wide variety of foods. Ensures that all work stations are kept clean and sanitary according to policies and procedures. Operates commercial kitchen equipment according to standards. Ensures that foods are prepared, stored, and served at appropriate temperatures. Follow proper food sanitation and food handling protocols. Follow customer instructions to ensure customers are receiving food as ordered.

The minimum educational requirement for this position is a High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.

Reports to work promptly and on time. Maintains a well-groomed appearance appropriate for Food Service Helper Position. Completion of the provided training program. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Basic mathematical skills. Proficient understanding of food allergies and modified diets. Excellent people skills. Available to work shifts and extended hours.

One year experience in a commercial kitchen environment. Food handler training certificate. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions. Ability to read and write. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. Ability to lead and train staff and/or students. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements. Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods. Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Flexibility to work various shifts.

Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
