Job Description
The Mechanical Assembler will perform precision mechanical assembly and maintenance on large generators in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role uses a wide range of hand and power tools, follows detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures, and supports diagnostic work on engines and control systems using manufacturer-specific software.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly on large generators according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively during assembly and repair tasks.
- Read and interpret work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other technical documentation to complete assignments accurately.
- Perform maintenance and repair work on generators, including disassembly, inspection, replacement of components, and reassembly.
- Learn and use manufacturer-specific software to help diagnose engine and control system issues.
- Use measuring devices such as tape measures and torque wrenches to ensure components meet required specifications and torque values.
- Operate or work with overhead cranes to safely move and position large components during assembly and repair.
- Follow all safety guidelines and contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues or discrepancies identified during assembly or repair.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
- At least 1 year of experience operating or working with overhead cranes.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used for mechanical assembly and repair.
- Ability to read and follow SOPs, work instructions, or blueprints to complete tasks accurately.
- Ability to use basic measuring tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, pressure gauges, and measuring tapes.
- Familiarity with electric meters (volts, ohms, amps) and related diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or engineering drawings.
- Background in automotive technology, diesel technology, motor assembly, HVAC, or a similar mechanical trade.
- Willingness to learn manufacturer-specific software for engine and control system diagnostics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

Work Environment
This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on the assembly and maintenance of large generators. Team members work with a variety of hand and power tools, measuring devices such as tape measures and torque wrenches, and overhead cranes to move and position large components. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to documented procedures. Multiple openings are available across two shifts. First shift runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and additional hours as needed. Second shift runs from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and additional hours as needed. The role involves hands-on mechanical work on the production floor within a structured, process-driven setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
