AsaPRNSpeech Language Pathologist,you willevaluate, plan, and administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatments to patients. Supervises Techs, volunteers, and students. Participates in patient/family,hospital,and community education.

Primary Duties:

• Performs initial evaluations and sets up treatment programs for patients of all agesin accordance withphysician orders and standard therapeutic proceduresforboth inpatient andoutpatient.Identifiesfunctional problems that require intervention based on assessment of the patient’s status. Establishes interventions within practice/ licensingstandards. Establishes specific outcomes that are consistent with identified problems, address functionalneedsand are measurable. Incorporates Patient and Caregiver goals into the plan of care. Modifies and progresses treatment program. Coordinates patient care needs with other services includingPT (Physical Therapy),OT(Occupational Therapy), nursing staff, dischargeplanningand physicians. Observes and documents patient activities in the medical record ina timely,accurateand concise manner inaccordwith department, JCAHO, Medicare and other regulating insurance or licensing standards.Identifiesneedfor andassistsinprocurement of equipment tooptimizepatient function. Notifies physician/nursing staff of any changes inpatient’sstatus.

• Providesteaching and instruction to patients, familymembersand staff. Instructs patients and caregivers in treatment programs, precautions and equipmentuse.Documentspatient/ caregiver instructionprovidedParticipates in the orientation ofnew staffmembers and volunteers as needed. Serves as a clinical instructor for students

• Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure.Identifieslearning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs. Attends continuing education programstomaintaincertificationAttendshospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allottedtimefor completion (CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation), License, PPD, Competencies, Age Specifics, etc.)

• Works effectively within and between departments. Participates on inter-departmental teams and committees, communicating unit knowledge asappropriate Participatesin interdisciplinary rounds as assigned Provides department/unit with information and knowledgeacquiredduring participation with interdepartmental teams and committees. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.

• Providesin-services to staff after attending continuing education.Provideseducation to physicians and support staffregardingSpeech Therapy scope of practice.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Speech Therapy.

• Basic Life Support (BLS).

• 1-2 years‘ experience preferred.

• LicensedSpeech Therapist inWashington, D.C.

This position has a hiring range of : USD $60.00 - USD $60.00 /Hr.
