DevOps Engineer, Level 4

Build and Tools Engineer (DevOps Engineer) As a member of the Spectacles Software Engineering Team at Specs, you will design and develop build systems and tooling for operating systems used by the next generation of Specs wearable computing devices. Responsibilities Develop and maintain build, integration, and automation systems for a custom operating system. Support the engineering team by providing optimized solutions for local development and continuous integration. Build automation and reporting infrastructure for pre‑production and in‑production testing and validation of critical hardware and software changes. Collaborate with all other software teams globally to bring up builds on new and experimental hardware platforms. Deploy cutting‑edge R&D solutions quickly into production while maintaining a high bar for quality and enabling efficient iteration. Use the products we are building to continually improve system support for development. Drive AI‑Native Workflow Integration by implementing AI/LLM tools within CI, build, and development workflows to boost developer velocity. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong scripting skills (shell, Python) and command‑line proficiency. Advanced knowledge of Git (including LFS, hooks, bisect, merge strategies, submodules, Gerrit). Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD configurations and workflows (Jenkins, GitHub, TeamCity). Containerization/Virtualization: Docker administration and deployment. Team player with excellent communication and customer‑oriented focus. Minimum Qualifications BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience with Unix/Linux environments. 2+ years of experience in build systems or automation. Preferred Qualifications and Skills Experience with Google Cloud (Compute Engine & BigQuery) or AWS. Experience with Gradle (or Bazel), CMake, GNU Make, SonarQube, JFrog Artifactory, AOSP builds, or Yocto. Experience with automated embedded device testing. Proficiency in leveraging AI tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT. A strong passion for creativity and solving cutting‑edge industry problems.
