About the Position

Charge pay is now being offered. Candidates with 2 years of experience will be considered. First-time travelers are accepted if they have more than 2 years of experience. Candidates must have certifications in BLS, and NIHSS is preferred. Candidates will be required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. The unit is the sole medical surgical unit in a community setting. It handles patients from various sources including OR and ED. The average admission rate is 8-12 patients every 24 hours. The unit aims for a patient ratio of 5:1 but may flex to 6:1. Travelers will only float to take on medical surgical patients. Candidates are expected to have a wide range of skills including managing ports, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services. The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics with diverse medical diagnoses. The unit routinely accepts post-operative patients, especially from orthopedic surgeries. Candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively within a team to ensure optimal patient care. Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals may be required. Candidates must adhere to the facility's background policy and break requirements for eligibility if applying as a traveler. Overall, the role requires adaptability and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
