Fire Service Technician

Responsibilities Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions. Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/systems problems. Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites. Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to repair equipment. Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems including SimplexGrinnell. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals. Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction. Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices, such as smartphones and laptops. Obtain customer signature upon completion of service call assignment. Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and help to train or mentor others on the service team. Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels. Resolve low‑voltage circuit troubles and perform system testing. Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks. Complete and submit all required task‑related, activity, and productivity documentation in a timely manner. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities and quotes to support recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications 4+ years documented experience in low‑voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems. FAL license (mandatory). Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals. Knowledge of test equipment such as multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices. High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50–70lbs. Ability to work in unusual and difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high‑lift equipment up to 40ft, working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements. Demonstrate a high level of customer service. Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs. Adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures. Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements. Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes. Preferred NICET LevelII certification. Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is a plus. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $27–$35 (to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities). This position includes a competitive benefits package.
