Location & Schedule Location: Hendersonville, North Carolina (28792) Schedule: PRN (part‑time) – Day shift (Mon‑Fri 8am‑5pm) Benefits Sign‑On Bonus up to $8,000. Relocation Bonus up to $5,000. Responsibilities Completes nutrition‑focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status. Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, problems, malnutrition criteria, knowledge deficits, and high‑risk health behaviors. Offers nutrition interventions, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services. May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies. Provides counseling and education using evidence‑based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management. Monitors and evaluates nutrition care plans to reach goals and promote optimal outcomes. Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives. Enters complete, accurate, timely electronic health record documentation. Enters nutrition orders when authorized. Participates in patient care rounds, collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to create nutrition plans of care. Promotes evidence‑based nutrition care and makes expertise available to foodservice areas. Provides timely responses to internal electronic communication. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services & medical nutrition therapy. General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, e‑mail, and spreadsheet software. Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc. Available to staff on units as the nutrition expert. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Attends interdisciplinary meetings and rounds on assigned units as scheduled unless valid excuse demonstrated. Assists in regulatory survey preparation when applicable. Reviews and/or updates department resource/reference materials when applicable or required. When confronted with barriers to meeting patient care standards, improves process by planning and implementing action steps. Identifies specific patient or staff needs, initiates and develops educational or clinical materials then evaluates outcomes. Assures that care delivered to each patient is in accordance with established standards. Skill and knowledge in working with an electronic health record system. Analyzes and interprets reliable assessment data to identify an actual occurrence, risk of, or potential for developing a nutrition problem. Nutrition diagnoses/problems are included on the patient care plan and updated as more data becomes available, or signed off as applicable. Provides appropriate intervention in accordance with the identified patient’s goals. Identifies and follows through with potential complex discharge planning needs, intervenes early to promote timely attainment of goals. Adheres to reassessment timeframe per standards. Reassesses and updates nutrition care process and implements changes as indicated. Complies with National Patient Safety Goals regarding abbreviation usage, patient identification. Assessment, interventions and procedures utilizing equipment are appropriate for age group. Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem‑solving, and customer service skills. Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and support personnel. Ability to work well with minimal supervision. Ability to keep accurate and complete records. Initiative to keep abreast of new information/products/developments in the field of Dietetics. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations as related to Dietetics practice. Proficiency in the Nutrition Care Process of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Proficiency in identifying and using comparative standards to estimate energy, fat, protein, carbohydrate, fiber, fluid, vitamin, and mineral needs as well as recommended body weight, BMI, and desired growth patterns. Ability to be flexible and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary. Licenses & Certifications Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) – required.
