Registered Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night Shift - 12 x 3

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Responsibilities are performed in all patient populations and in all patient service areas.

• Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine treatment requirements.
• Determines the most suitable method for administering inhalants and observes precautions as per physician's orders.
• Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders and interprets clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
• Sets up and operates respiratory therapy devices, ensuring specified parameters of treatment are maintained.
• Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy and performs necessary adjustments to equipment.
• Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patients in breathing exercises.
• Conducts pulmonary function tests to assist physicians in diagnosis.
• Maintains accurate patient charts and assists in the transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• Responds to code situations as needed.

• Graduate of a Co ARC approved Respiratory program required.
• 2 years of experience is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) certification.
• NRP may be required for certain facilities.
• State License in New York and Maryland.
