Empower young learners and make a lasting impact as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained K-6th classroom setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with students with a diverse range of needs, including behavioral challenges, in a supportive educational environment. Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
  • Previous experience teaching students with multiple needs, particularly behavioral or emotional challenges
  • Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum for various learning styles
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, considerate classroom atmosphere

What You’ll Do:

  • Teach and support students in a self-contained classroom, grades K-6th
  • Develop lesson plans tailored to each student’s abilities and individual goals
  • Employ various instructional strategies to address unique academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, support staff, and other educators to provide the best possible learning experience
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and data-driven progress monitoring
  • Participate in regular professional development, including MPS/De-escalation training provided by the district
  • Foster positive relationships with students and families, advocating for student success
