NSU Health is currently seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Temporary Medical Assistant to join our growing healthcare team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside physicians and healthcare professionals in a collaborative clinical environment dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.
About the Opportunity
The Temporary Medical Assistant plays an important role in supporting daily clinic operations and assisting physicians during patient examinations and treatments. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare setting, values teamwork, and is committed to delivering outstanding patient experiences.
Compensation will vary based on years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview patients and obtain/update health and medication histories in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Measure and record vital signs, weight, and temperature
- Assist physicians and residents with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments
- Educate patients regarding examination procedures and available services
- Coordinate laboratory services and specimen collection
- Perform routine laboratory testing, injections, EKG setup, and treatments under physician direction
- Maintain exam room inventory and medical supplies
- Ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly
- Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- CPR Certification
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a medical office OR graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program
- Experience using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical terminology
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum six (6) months of phlebotomy experience
- Experience within a specialty medical practice
- Experience using NextGen software
